An introduction to the eastern seaboard and the river gateway of the capital.

Laem Chabang

Illustrated container cranes beside the water

Laem Chabang is located on Thailand’s eastern seaboard in Chonburi, on the Gulf of Thailand. Its development gave Thailand a major deep-sea gateway beyond Bangkok, with terminal operations supporting containerised trade and other cargo activities.

A port name describes a place, but the experience of moving cargo depends on the particular terminal, shipping service and inland connection. For an actual shipment, check the operator’s requirements, gate arrangements and the carrier’s current information.

Bangkok Port

Illustrated cargo vessel on a river

Bangkok Port sits on the Chao Phraya River. Its urban and river setting makes it a different kind of gateway from the deep-sea port at Laem Chabang. The Port Authority of Thailand provides official systems for vessel schedules and container information for Bangkok Port.

Sea transport does not stop at the river mouth. Inland distribution, storage and local transport connect the port with the wider movement of goods. Looking at these links explains more than a single berth or vessel call.

Reading port information

Port schedules, terminal cut-offs and cargo availability are operational information. They change with the service, voyage and shipment. ThaiBay explains the context; official port, terminal and carrier systems remain the source for live details.
